Cornerstone Music Festival
It was the first week of July; and we were on our way to Bushnell, Illinois. We were moments away from experiencing a festival that we’d receive so much enjoyment from that we deemed it a new annual tradition. If you don’t know Cornerstone is a music festival, put on by “Jesus People USA” and held annually around the 4th of July near Bushnell. Many of the artists heard at Cornerstone are also featured in a more popular music festival called “Warped Tour.”

I should mention that at Cornerstone the campus is located in the middle of no where, so I knew the living conditions would be the same as when I would go camping, unless of course you bring loads of money to waste at the vendor tents. I especially learned that I should pack more food, because around the second day all I had left was a moist loaf of bread, blackberry jelly, and peanut butter. Although that’s my favorite snack, I don’t think that would meet the daily nutrients I would need to efficiently enjoy my week at Cornerstone; so I was forced to hustle. The second thing I learned was that crowd surfing is a good idea if and only if you can control your wave. For example, a boy unwillingly gets hoisted up by his friends, but the only thing in his mind is to get down so he wiggles, kicks, and fights the wave of people. The crowd is unforgiving and harshly throws him on the ground and away from his group of friends. I on the under hand have learned from the mistakes of other crowd surfers. The first thing I learned is to body shift. Body shifting is when I shift my body...
