Quantitive Methods-Report.
1.Summary
This report has been prepared to give an insight into the sales figures for 40 Delicious Recipes Inc. overseas franchises. Firstly, the measures of location were examined by calculating the mean, median and mode of the data. In order to illustrate these findings, a frequency distribution table, histogram and ogive have been compiled. This progressed to estimate the measures of location from the distribution, followed by a brief explanation of the findings.
This led to a further consideration of the sales figures, comparing them to the results for 3 different food types offered by restaurants by taking a stratified sample size of 15 and estimating the average sales figures using the food type as the stratum identifier.
From there, the profits made by one restaurant were estimated by subtracting the cost of advertising, goods sold and wages from the gross sales. This first calculation was completed by hand, but in an effort to ensure efficiency and best use of time, the rest of the restaurant data profits and profitability (profit as a % of sales) was calculated by an Excel spreadsheet, a printout of which is enclosed in this report. This information was then sorted by decreasing order of profitability and once again a printout is enclosed. Finally comments on the benefits of using the spreadsheet package have been highlighted. Overall, this was a useful exercise in analysing data and revealing various outcomes. This information may be of use in future decision making, which in turn helps to aid the continuing success our organisation.
