Apple Swot

Strengths

Control- Apple Inc. has complete control over their products by manufacturing both computers and their operating systems.   This enables them to have integrated products that run smoothly with one another.   As a result of this control, they have the ability to produce products that consumers portray as quality products that are user friendly.   As Apple continues to innovate, their products are becoming easier to use and will continue to be regarded as the easiest products to use in the marketing place.   Their ability to select everything is put into their final product makes them one of the most hands-on developer and manufacturer in the industry.

Brand Loyalty-   As a result of the success of the IPod, Apple is experiencing a growing customer base.   Once these potential customers see the quality products that Apple produces, the yare more inclined to purchase other Apple products.   Most of their products are cosmetically appealing to their consumers.   They are light, compact and very easy to carry around which gives Apple the advantage over other computer manufacturers. The brand loyalty they are gaining from the most popular products is extremely difficult to imitate.   It will be very costly and time consuming for any other company in the industry to replicate.

Competent CEO- Steve Jobs has been a critical element of Apple’s success since his return in 1996.   In 1996, he re-established his position as CEO and changed Apple’s strategic positioning for the better.   In 1996, they stopped distributing dividends, instead focusing all monies towards the growth of the company.   Upon returning, he encouraged more growth through R & D testing and allowed for more creativity throughout the company.   Also, since 1997, Steve Jobs has maintained salary of $1 (Financialwire, 2007).   He is compensated through difference incentive programs.   This has reduced Apple’s exposure to the agency problem.   Through his tenure at Apple, Steve Jobs has proved to be a...
