The Mysteries Of The Universe

The Mysteries of the Universe

The universe is the final frontier. We have studied it for hundreds of years, always looking at the stars for answers and direction, and wondering what exactly the universe holds. Since the beginning of time, humans have marveled at the expanse of space and speculated as to what is out there. Today we have some of the most intelligent people looking into the seemingly unanswerable questions we may have about the universe. The United States government has set up an agency responsible for space exploration, researching aeronautics (the science involved with the study, design, and manufacture of flight-capable machines, or the techniques of operating aircraft), and collecting all information related to the universe. This agency is called National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). It was founded on October first in the year 1958 in an effort to advance the United States in its “space race” with the Soviet Union (“NASA/Marshall Solar Physics”). NASA has been successful in its endeavor to research the universe. The research done by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration has given us information on many different aspects throughout the universe. We have learned about things such as coronal mass ejections, supernovae, wormholes, dark matter, and black holes.
Coronal mass ejections, first discovered in December of 1971, have only recently been considered useful and important. A coronal mass ejection occurs when a star releases a collection of energy in the form of plasma. They are usually made up           of protons and electrons. Coronal mass ejections are related to solar flares which are fierce explosions on a star's atmosphere. The explosions can create various levels of radiation which may be strong enough to affect radio communications here on Earth. A coronal mass ejection is basically a much stronger solar flare (Calder 54-58). These coronal mass ejections usually have a large impact on Earth. One result of...
