Gbi's And The Boeing 747 Chemical Laser

The United States has implemented a comprehensive missile defense plan. They include a new array of things that may help give us more security and loosen tensions with countries like Russia, Iran and North Korea. Ground Based Interceptors (GBI’s) and a Boeing 747 armed with a chemical laser are just a few of the things that the military has been trying out since 2002.

The U.S. is having talks with Russia and Iran about the growing threats of nuclear weapons. The missile defense shield grid program that was started in 2004 now has 24 GIB’S. A few of them are located in Alaska, Southern California.   Another 20 plus are being built in Alaska, Poland, and The Czech Republic. In total their will be 54 missile silos across southern Europe and North America.   Geography is one of the most important things to look at when building these silos. As well as keeping the defense system operational at all times. It is influencing the way international politics are being shaping and in keeping countries like North Korea under control.

The “Airborne Laser” is a Boeing 747 armed with a chemical laser that can destroy an interconntental ballistic missile flying towards it. It is set to deploy and orbit in 2009 and it’s also said to be fully operational by 2015. Later this year it is supposed to take a practice test to perfect its bugs and such. It may prove effective depending on the test later this year will determine if the military will use it or not.

All of these defense mechanisms such as the GBI’S and The Airborne Laser are just a few of the strategy’s we have in our missile defense arsenal.
