Four Functions of Management
Bateman and Snell (2007) define "Management is the process of working with people and resources to accomplish organizational goals." Many managers in the global business retail stores, hard building malls, internet shopping sites, and manufacture outlets work "by their seat of their pants" a common expression used when referring to learning as you go; drawing on your past management experiences and the companies way of doing business models then calling it your managerial type or style. Some of these types of managers use functions that already exist in Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling. Bateman and Snell add that "Good managers do those things both effectively and efficiently" Most managers do one, two or three functions well but not all four unless they are extraordinary as managers at their current positions. This leads us into the foundations and functions of managerial skills in a static business environment that continues to transform itself into the new and upcoming business giant companies we see today. People create something from nothing but start by managing functions.
Planning
From nothing starts with a few ideas creating the possibility of something not in the current market the business realm then the implementation of planning is born. This first function of managing of an idea or company is the planning, the first stage and need to recreate itself also within the existing companies as well to remain competitive in the global economy.
