World Politics-Women In Africa

According to the first article, how can it be that only 5% of countries are headed by women, 8% only make up all of the cabinet members, 16% of the membership of national legislatures, and only around 9% of the world’s judges? There are 6 billion people living on this planet; and those are the small figures showing how little women are involved in, or allowed to be involved to help administrate all of Earth’s inhabitants. Women’s rights have and will always be a major global issue for many years to come, especially in other countries since they have come a long way throughout history in the United States. It’s not just the social, political, and economic discrimination of women that I find so heartbreaking. It’s the abuse and society that women across the world live through and endure daily with no signs of stopping in our lifetime.
I believe that just because these tragedies and events are taking place in other countries and not ours, does not mean that our country should not step in and do something to stop this. We are all human beings that are derived from a common ancestor. We are all people living together on this earth and if we would not want it happening in our country, we should not want it happening overseas or across the border. There should be a way that any country no matter what can just step in and rescue these women and children from these horrifying lives they have to put up with.
Another disturbing statistic is the 8.4 million children that are in “unconditional worst forms of child labor” according to the IPEC. It is heartbreaking to hear these stories of inadequate food and water supply for other countries overseas and how this impact on the children is heard as much as the women problems are but, in reality both groups are facing the same difficulties as one another.
