Q1 b) Write a summary of the extract using the notes that you have made. (approximately one third of the passage).

People traveling long distances frequently have to decide whether they want to go by land, sea or air. Train journeys are not comfortable due to crowd, monotonous rhythm of the wheels which lulls to sleep. Reading is only a partial solution. So, you reach the destination almost exhausted.

Long car journeys are even less pleasant. It is also not much comfortable because during the journey reading is impossible, greater part of the journey is spent on narrow, bumpy roads which are crowded with traffic. But you can travel fairly safe at high speeds. Travel by sea offer variety of comforts. You can enjoy through various means of entertainment and good food. The precondition is that the seam remains calm and you are not likely to get sea-sick. Taking long time of journey is its only drawback.

Aeroplanes have the reputation of being dangerous and most expensive form of transport. But they are matchless in speed and comfort. You can remain occupied through plenty of means for entertainment available. Refreshments are also there. An aeroplane offers you an unusual breathtaking view of the world. You fly over high mountains and deep valleys. Howsoever, you decide to spend your time, one thing is certain: you will land at your destination fresh and uncrumpled.



Q2. You attended a seminar, on ways of preventing female foeticide and making the nation women friendly, organized by the National Commission for women. As the Secretary of the Mahila Mandal of your colony write a factual report of the seminar in about 200 words.
