Ancient Egypt
Did you Know, that the first cat to be domesticated was in Egypt? Well it's
true. There were a lot of wild cats in Egypt and they managed to domesticate
them. Egyptians would get them, because of their rodent problem. They would
also take their cats hunting with them. Egyptians loved their cats, because they
brought them prosperity. In fact they loved them so much that they made the cat
a god. But that is not all "when their cats died the owners would shave their
eyebrows as a sign of grief" (Graham 1). I am going to talk to you about the
Egyptian religion, architecture, myths and their royalties.
In Egypt, like in any other country, had a religion. They believed in gods and
goddesses. One of them is the god Amun who was a man with a ram head. He
was also called the king of the gods. He was very important in ancient Egypt, but
sometimes Amun was combined with the god Ra. He was then more powerful, so
he was then called Amun-Ra. Another god is Anubis, who was the a man with a
jackel head. He was the god of embalming the dead. He helped to embald Orisis
after he was killed by Seth. Atum was another Egyptian god. He was a man with a
double crown, he also was the creator "god" because it's said that his tears
became humans. Another goddess is Hathor who had ears of a cow. She was a
protective goddess, she was also the goddess of love and joy. Hathor was the wife
of Horus, and was sometimes thought to be the mother of the pharaoh. The most
important god in ancient Egypt was the god Ra who was the sun god. The ancient
Egyptians belived that Ra was swallowed every night by the sky goddess Nut, and
was reborn every morning. They also believed that he traveled through the
underworld at night. He appeared as a man with a head of a ram in the
underworld. There was also the goddess Tawaret or "the great one", is the goddess
who protects women during their pregnancy and child...
