1 The Wind Family
Have you heard of the Winds and do you know that they are the children of Mother Earth? There are four of them, two brothers and two sisters. Let’s meet them!
The sisters are East and West. East is the peacemaker of the family and likes to read. Sometimes you can see her in the sky reading in her rocking chair. West Wind is creative and friendly and loves to paint and decorate her home.
North and South are their brothers. South is happiest when he can go to Nocturnal Land, the amusement park of the skies. In Nocturnal Land, a zipping comet can make your belly flip flop and riding on a shooting star dizzily spins you around and around and up and down. North is impatient, likes excitement; and is always looking for something fun to do. He is the brain behind the tricks they play on us humans.
A long time ago when their Mother Earth was much younger and did not have so many people living on her she had asked that they keep an eye on her well-being. They had promised, but then forgot. They did not understand why their Mother would ask such a thing. Why would they? Their Mother had never been sick. Besides they were far too busy playing games and pulling tricks on us humans
One of the Winds favorite games that they play with their cousins the Breezes is basketball. When you are a wind the whole sky is your playground, and because the Winds can move very fast they use whole continents as their playing court. Of course, in basketball you must have basketball hoops, so their cloud friends happily turn themselves into nets whenever they play. Shape changing is what Clouds do best.
The Wind siblings amuse themselves by pulling tricks on us. Their old standby is to blow and tug on our umbrellas when it is raining cats and dogs with the hope of turning them inside out.
