Descirbe How The Media Techniques Contribute To The Atmosphere Of Romeo And Juliet
Media Coursework - Guinness Advert
In this essay I am going to explore the different type of media techniques in the Guinness Advert - Which was known as the best advert of 2005.
I think that this advert is aimed at the middle aged men between their30’s and 50s, I believe this because it has a approach for the people who wait, because unlike normal beer you have to wait for a pint of Guinness to settle.
At the beginning there is a man, who is sat and waiting for the right wave, and then he sees it and begins to run towards it. When he reaches it, you see white horses as waves. While this is happening there is a man telling a story, and at the end there’s a pint of Guinness, which has written above it “Good things come to those who …”.
The first thing I noticed about this advert was the fact that this whole advert is filmed in Black and white. I think they used this technique to capture the audience’s attention, because it is different to what is usually seen on television adverts.
Another interesting point was as they approached the wave, the wave was shown in the form of charging white horses, I believe they used this to represent the white topping of a pint of Guinness, and furthermore the idea of it charging is representing the time taken for the wave to settle and the anticipation building up to actually drinking your drink.
To make the Horses look they are contained within the wave, they separate the 2 parts up but using the shot of white horses galloping and then place this inside a pre-filmed, or computerised wave, this then leads to the waves galloping through the ocean.
There are many types of camera shots and angles used throughout the advert, and I believe some of the most important are, a Wide shot; shown when the surfers are reproaching the shore, which shows the sheer vastness and depth to a pint of Guinness. A Close-up; seen when we zoom right in on the surfers faces, showing their sheer determination, and also representing...
