In this report I will that affect motivation in my chosen organisation which is Egg. It will include theories and techniques used by the organisation. I will also evaluate the effectiveness and any suggestions for alternative strategies, together with identification of areas of conflict between the individual and the organisation and suggestions to resolve them. Egg is the world’s largest online bank. It has over 3.7 million customers and is best known for it credit card business, accounts, investments, mortgages, and insurance. It has a reputation for innovation services and was first established in 1998 and was set up in response to consumer demand for a more flexible approach to banking.
Egg’s main purpose is ‘to revolutionise customers’ experience of financial services driven through unleashing the power of people ’. This means that if the employees at egg offer a first-rate service to all its customers then they will tend to buy more. This in turn will lead to the customers recommending egg to their friends and family. This will attract more customers to the egg and will increase shareholder value. In order for egg to do this it is very important that all its employees are well motivated.
Motivation is the force that drives individuals to do things because they want to or because they want to see some benefit. For example students at college need to be well motivated to work hard for their exams in order to go to university and get a good job. Similarly people go to work because they believe that they will benefit more by going to work than but not working. Motivation is also used to develop strategies to achieve the best output from employees to get them to work hard and effectively.
