Science Fiction

Science Fictions is a presentation of our bleak future. It shows us what may occur if we continue on the path we are traveling upon. It shows how our errors may lead us on a different track of life, whether we like it or not. It is not always a positive look on the future, most Science Fiction shows how computers and technology have transformed our lives to the point were we lose control and are not capable of making the decisions, but let technology do this for us. Another common future that Science Fiction is how greed and technology control us, which brings about war, in any form. Wars that last years for the purpose of having more.
    A Science Fiction Film, Gattaca shows how it does not matter who we are, but what we are in the future. How invalids, those with inferior Genetic Make up form an underclass in Society. Where identify theft is possible, just to achieve your dreams, as it is no longer possible for the invalids, those who only pose an insurance risk. It is given to a new breed of humans, those who are created in labs as test tube babies, free of any genetic dispositions, which may affect their abilities. They are created as a “perfect” human being.   We follow an invalids journey, Vincent’s as he achieves what he dreamt of, with the help of Jerome an elite in society, but who even with his genetic make-up has failed and shows mental instability, attempting suicide by stepping in front of a car, and thus disabling himself. His mental instability is later proved when he incinerates himself, this movie tries to show that there is something other than Genetic make-up, which makes us who we are, and that anyone can achieve what they want if they believe in themselves and work hard towards their goals.
