Film
I have learned some film history throughout the readings hat we had to read and the movies that we have watched. Also, I learned how the films developed throughout the time starting from only one shot to various types of shots as it progressed. My favorite film that we watched was Modern Times. I think that watching the films helps everybody understand how film progresses becasue you see the quality of the movie, the sound, the types of shots whether its a close up, extreme close up, wide shot, etc. Also, some of the things that I also learned from this class include: Just because a movie was really popular back in the day, does not mean that I will enjoy it. Just because I think I won’t enjoy a movie doesn’t mean I’ll hate it, I might even really love it. (Modern Times)When we’re born, we don’t realize we’re a different being from our mothers. Then 3 months hit and we realize we’re individual and it’s all downhill from there. We can only see ourselves through the image reflected in each other. Art Cinema is beautiful, original, organic but terribly lame in my opinion. The War changed the film industry, and the family changed the War. Only the truest realest things cannot be symbolized. Sometimes movies gain all their merit from a few simple lines. The audience serves as a camera and a projector…The film doesn’t exist until you sit down to watch it, and as soon as you close your eyes, it’s gone. I actually can like a French movie. - I do need justice and truth to prevail in a movie for me to like it. I don’t know if that’s PC or artsy enough to pass this class, but it’s me and I can’t deny that.
