Eating For Pleasure

EATING FOR PLEASURE
          Eating and drinking are held to be so important than being fed and watered in many respects. Weekly recipes and restaurant rewievs carried by newspapers and magazines and food programmes on television and radio show the importance of eating and drinking in our lives. We have to eat and drink to be able to survive, on the contrary they are not necessity when we compare them with being fed and watered. For example, we can be fed and watered with intravenous drip during our sleep and can save time and effort. However we eat and drink instead of feeding and watering due to the value of eating and drinking goes beyond feeding and eating.
    One factor of realizing eating and drinking more valuable than feeding and watering is seeing them as leisure pursuits. Althouh eating and drinking are necessities of life, they differ from some other necessary activities such as sleeping, washing or working. Eating and drinking are not considered only such as necessity but often leisure activity. For instance eating out in a restaurant seperates this pursuit from other necessary activities.
    Being free to do somethings, in other words do it willingly without any obligation, explains the concept of leisure. When we eat out as a free time activity, this activity is not a part of   work, a daily routine, a family duty or a particular necessity but a novelty and a pleasure that includes not only the pleasure of eating, but also the pleasure of choosing and tasting. One may need a meal but it is not the reason of eating out by choice. People want to eat out to be in different atmosphere, to choose his/her food among lots of meals, in short for pleasure. It can be called a leisure activity because it includes sparing time for meal, also for pleasure.
