   Miss Nelson’s News Letter

August 3, 2007

Welcome parents and students to our 5th grade class! I am excited to have everyone in my class and cannot wait to begin challenging each student, as well as making this a fun and successful year.

I have high expectations for all of my students regarding work ethic, behavior, and performance.   It is important for students to come to school prepared and ready to learn and that they always try their best.   Please emphasize the importance of being on time, completing all assigned work, and being a respectful classmate.

I will be using conduct cards to monitor behavior within the classroom.   After reviewing the guidelines with your child please sign the form and have them return it to class.   My classroom information regarding procedures and expectations can be found on the back of this letter.   Also, please fill out the information sheet attached for important contact information.

This year students will have a small snack break sometime during the day.   Snacks need to be healthy in nature and should be easy to manage.   Some examples include crackers, pretzels, fruit (please be sure that it is cut or peeled if necessary), granola bars, etc.   I also ask that students bring only water to drink.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child, let’s all do our part to make this a great year!

Sincerely,

Miss Nelson
