Jane Goodall

On April 2, 1934 Jane Goodall was born to the parents of Vanne and Mortimer Goodall. She lived in the town of Bournemouth where her family members influenced in so many ways. She learned to love and appreciate nature throughout her childhood as well as the values such as courage, honesty, compassion, and tolerance for all people. Although while the war was going on it had cuased their family to become poor.Her father was in the military stationed in the jungles of Singapore. Whe he came back he brought Jane a gift when she was about one year old that she stills treasures today. He brought her a toy chimpanzee that was named Jubilee after a chimp that was famous at the Lodon Zoo. Her parents were divorced when she was just a child and then she and her Mother lived wiht her grandma in Bournemouth. At all times her family had large number of pets.From an early age Jane loved to play with and take care of the animals. She was fond of climbing trees and sitting up there and read books. Jane enjoyed to take notes on animal habits. When she was young she wrote a weekly newspaper about animals, called "The   Alligator," which her mom typed for her and friends.Jane disliked school and was usually late. She always preferred being outside watchign the animals.After though Jane started to do better in school when her mother convinced her that she needed to get good grades to become a scientist and go to Africa.

Jane wanted to attend University, but her mom could not afford it, so she went to secretarial school.After attending this school, Jane in London at   movie company for about 3 years. Later on Jane had an apportunity to go to Africa when a friend from school who lived on a farm in Kenya invited her to come visit. Although Jane had to save up money for this trip so returned home and worked at a restaurant.Finally, in 1957, at the age of 23, Jane left drom England left for Kenyta, Africa.
