Europe and Africa Civilizations

Europe and Africa civilizations played a role in one way or another in the conflicts of the 20th Century: World War One, World War Two, and the Cold War. These conflicts also had an impact on the world and the United States. This paper will show the possible causes to the 20th Century conflicts and the roles that Europe and Africa played in these conflicts.
      World War One occurred due to many reasons. The main trigger for the war was the assassination of the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie on 28th June 1914. The assassination happened during a visit by Archduke to Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia.
      When thinking of World War One, we tend to imagine deep trenches, stagnant warfare, and other items that are associated with the Western Front. When thinking of war in Africa, we may think of tribal wars. However, war in Africa can be thoroughly included in history of World War One. War in Africa occurred at the same time as war in Europe did. War in Africa first broke out in early August 1914 with all the German colonies being attacked by the Allies. Africa suffered greatly from World War One.
The First World War did not only cause negative effects. Africa did benefit in small ways from the war in terms of relationships with other countries. The devastation of this war was far greater than the progress of it. After the war, more than two million Africans had been killed, often in the process of helping the British troops. Following the end of the war, nearly 2% of the population in Africa died in an influenza outbreak.
Europe for many years had been known for conflict. They would often have small conflicts and combats. As technology improved, the battles grew and were more intense. This was seen in World War One.
