In the healthcare sector over the past three months the three best performers have been Celgene Corp. (CELG), Boston Scientific Corp. (BSX), and Zimmer Holdings Inc. (ZMH). The three worst performers have been Wellpoint Inc. (WLP), Humana Inc. (HUM), and Schering-Plough Corp. (SGP).
Over the past three months CELG has had a 25.78% change. Celgene Corporation is an integrated global biopharmaceutical company engaged mostly in the discovery, development, and commercialization of new therapies for the treatment of cancer and inflammatory diseases through gene and protein regulation.  
Over the past three months BSX has had a 24.04% change. Boston Scientific is a worldwide developer, manufacturer, and marketer of medical devices whose products are used in a broad range of interventional medical specialties. They offer their products in three groups including Cardiovascular, Endosurgery, and Neuromodulation.   They market their products through direct sales force and a network of distributors and dealers.
Over the past three months ZMH has had a 16.43% change.   Zimmer Holdings is a worldwide leader in designing, developing, manufacturing, and marketing orthopedic reconstructive, spinal and trauma devices, dental implants, and related orthopedic surgical products. They have operations in more than twenty-five countries around the world and sells products in more than 100 countries.
Biotechnology companies, such as Celgene, usually outperform in volatile markets. In the economic state we are in right now this bodes well for them. Whereas big pharmaceutical companies lose patent protection, biologically engineered pharmaceuticals are proteins that are almost always injected. That means that there isn’t any way that a biotech generic equivalent will ever threaten Celgenes earning power and allows them to keep drug prices high.
