From Paraguay To The United States
I feel comfortable with myself when I think of who I am today. I was born and grew up in a beautiful country located in South America, which is called Paraguay. After I finished high school, I realized that my choices in Paraguay were limited and I probably would not be able to reach any of my goals in the future. With that in mind I decide to immigrate to America. By that time, I had already traveled to the United States, because when I was fourteen years old I came to visit my aunt. It was then that I fell in love with this country. For some reason, I just had the feeling that here is where my dreams could come true.
Since my whole family is here with me, I have never really missed a lot of things from my country, so my transition to this country was easy for me. My family is very small. I only have my parents, my brother. My grandmother, who I love, is still living in Paraguay but she comes to visit us every year. My grandfather used to come to visit us every year, but sadly, he passed away two years ago; I love and miss him greatly.
The Paraguayan community in California is huge, therefore; you can find almost anything from Paraguay. I eat almost every day Paraguayan food. I am red meat lover, and that cost me a lot of money here. On Sundays, I can see Paraguayans playing soccer at the public parks, just like in Paraguay.
When I started studying, I felt better, because I knew that this decision was part of what I needed to accomplish my dreams. To Study, is just part of what I have to do to achieve my desires. I know that I still have a long way to go, and I also know what I want for me.
Today, I am happy about making the right decision, at the right time. Seeing my parents working in their favorite area, as well my brother and I studying towards our majors, makes me feel really proud of all of us.
